Who is Little Acre Ridge?
I’m glad you came. I would like to tell you a
little bit about us.
First of all we live in the beautiful state of
Michigan. The one that is the shape of a mitten! Wonder if that has
anything to do with the fact that our winters are so cold? ! Seriously
though, Michigan is a beautiful state with many interesting places to
visit.
We have the Mackinac Bridge, a 5 mile long suspension bridge which
connects our lower peninsula to our upper peninsula. Many beautiful
lighthouses along the coasts of the great lakes. Of course we’re
surrounded by the great lakes. And we have the famous Mackinac Island,
which is a very popular tourist attraction.
We have a large family. I have always wanted a large
family. Thats probably why I loved “The Waltons” so much. We have 9
children with 8 still at home. The 9th (or should I say the first and
oldest) is a son whom we are very proud of. He has a very good head on
his shoulders and is at this time attending Michigan State University.
Some of our children came to us through adoption, and some by birth.
Thank you to my childrens birthmoms for giving me such wonderful gifts.
We live on just an acre of land. And just recently I became motivated
to attempt to “Homestead” as much as possible. So in the last several months I have planted 7 semi- dwarf apple trees, 4 semi-dwarf peach
trees, several black and red raspberry plants, and 5 grape vines.
We
have put up fence panels to give our new “Nigerian dwarf goats” a place
to roam and eat grass outside. We have constructed a very nice 8×8
chicken coop with a 6 x 12 outside pen for the Welsummer and Cuckoo
Maran chicks that will be coming next week.
This has been a busy and exciting time. Just knowing that one day
soon we will be picking our own fruit and milking our own goats. And
eating more nutritious food without “chemicals” added.
I am very excited about having a family business making “Handmade Goat Milk Soap” right here from
home.
My husband has a full time job working in the automotive industry
which means that the kids and myself will be taking care of the majority
of the chores here. This will no doubt keep us all very busy. But I
believe it will be a great learning experience for them as well. We are
homeschoolers so every thing is “school” to us.
This about covers us for the time being, but I’m sure as we change
and grow I will need to edit and update you “about us”.
